INTRO.: the story of Israel’s deliverance from Egyptian bondage is the first redemption story in the Bible. The word "redeem" is first mentioned in Exodus Israel had been in Egypt nearly years after being invited to live there by the Pharaoh of Joseph’s : Charles Salmon.   In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. Paul is saying that our redemption and forgiveness are "in accordance with" (kata 4), or "to the extent of" the wealth, riches, or abundance (ploutos 5) of God's favor. In other words, our redemption is not barely enough, but plenteous. Our forgiveness is not scarcely, but abundantly given.
